The person behind OHM Smart Home

Milosz Karubin — Owner & Systems Integrator

I created OHM Smart Home to make sophisticated technology feel approachable and the process of building a connected home more enjoyable. I work with homeowners, architects, designers, builders and other trades to make each installation thoughtful, dependable and easy to use.

How I work

From initial walkthroughs and design decisions to programming, calibration and troubleshooting, my focus is on a finished result that suits the space and the people living in it.

The meaning behind OHM Smart Home

The name OHM Smart Home has a few layers. An ohm (Ω) is the unit used to measure electrical resistance. You might recognize it from speakers, which are often rated at 4 or 8 ohms. The name is also a playful nod to “home sweet home.”

Spoken aloud, “ohm” sounds like “Om,” the meditative sound associated with calm. I like the idea that saying my company’s name can be a little reminder to slow down and feel at ease—for my clients and for me as I guide them through the process. That’s why the logo combines an electrical waveform with a meditating figure. Ultimately, all of this technology serves a simple purpose: creating beautiful spaces where we can relax, enjoy life, and connect with the people we love.
